  The Song Be Slump: A Masterclass in Patience (and Not Much Else) For years, Song Be Golf Resort has held a storied place in Vietnam’s golfing landscape. As the country’s first international standard championship course, it carries a certain "old guard" prestige. But lately, stepping onto the first tee feels less like entering a premier sporting venue and more like joining a very slow, very humid protest. If you’re planning a round here, bring a book. You’re going to need it. The Waiting Game The most glaring issue at Song Be isn't the layout—it’s the glacial pace of play. In a world where a four-hour round is the gold standard, Song Be is pushing the boundaries of endurance, with rounds frequently clocking in at a staggering 5 hours and 45 minutes to 6 hours. The frustration begins before you even swing a club. The starter’s hut seems to treat the tee-off schedule as a "suggestion" rather than a rule, with groups consistently sent out 15 minutes behind schedule. Once you’re on the grass, don't expect the marshals to come to your rescue. While they are present, their impact on the flow of play is negligible. They seem more like passive observers of a traffic jam than the traffic controllers the course desperately needs. On the Green (Slowly) The course conditions themselves do little to make up for the wait. "Passable" is perhaps the most generous term for the current state of maintenance. It lacks the crisp, manicured bite of its regional competitors. Most disappointing, however, are the green speeds. For a course of this reputation, the greens are sluggish, lacking the true, fast roll that seasoned players expect. Putting becomes a chore of muscle rather than touch, further detracting from the "championship" experience the resort still claims to offer. The Human Element: Caddies and Facilities It’s not all doom and gloom, though the experience is wildly inconsistent. The caddie program is a roll of the dice: The Exceptional: You may find a caddie who reads lines like a pro and anticipates your every club choice. The Mediocre: You are just as likely to get someone who provides the bare minimum of service, leaving you to do the heavy lifting of course management. On the bright side, the locker rooms remain a sanctuary. They are consistently clean, well-maintained, and provide the level of comfort that the rest of the facility should strive to match. It is the one area where the "resort" tag still feels earned. The Verdict Song Be is currently a shadow of its former self. While the bones of a great course are there, the combination of lackluster maintenance and an abysmal pace of play makes it a hard sell for the serious golfer. Until management empowers their marshals and speeds up those greens, it remains a "resort" where the primary activity isn't golf—it’s waiting.

  About 1 hour plus from city. Dont ever play Dessert Course. It is pin hole narrow and not so well maintained. The Lotus Course was so much better. Overall ok only, will not travel here to play.

  The service provided by the old lady at the driving range was extremely poor. The driving range design was faulty, with a very low ceiling. A normal swing with a driver would break the club. My club was broken, and the course staff were being rude. They told me they had warned me in advance, but they didn't. The guests playing golf nearby could testify to this, and there were even cameras.

While most of the staff radiate warmth and professionalism, there is one particular supervisor or manager who seems to approach hospitality in her own distinctive way. Let’s just say that customer queries are not always met with the usual charm and grace you might expect at a leisure resort. A simple question about the bill may be interpreted as a personal attack, and responses tend to range from icy glares to a level of irritation normally reserved for people who cut in line at the supermarket. That said, Song Be Golf Resort remains a fantastic place to visit. Come for the stunning views, fantastic drinks, and a golf course that rewards smart play. Just approach the menu with caution, trust the caddies, and if you have a question—maybe ask one of the friendlier faces first.

  It was my first time in Song Be, and I will definitely be back soon. I thought the difference between the Palm and Desert courses was really enjoyable. They did a great job creating the right atmosphere, on course. The food in the restaurant was decent, so no complaints there. Also, I could tell that the course was old. It felt old, but still the atmosphere and energy about the place was really nice. My only gripe was my caddy. She really couldn't read the greens. I have been playing for 1.5 years, and even I could tell that she was way off. Also, she didn't bring the right number of clubs each time. It sounds harsh, but if you are golfer you know what I mean.

  I came here for lunch only, so I have no idea about their rooms. In general, the food is just okay. You can try the ravioli noodle, the Pho noodle, and the Korean mushroom beef noodle, but they tend to be quite salty. However, there is a nice golf course that gives you a very comfortable feeling and a good mood to enjoy lunch with customers, friends, or family.

  Nice enough course. Slow play isn't controlled. Caddie fee is not paid to the caddies even though it's listed at D842,000 on your invoice. Employees pretend to not understand when you ask about it. Caddies expect a D500,000+ tip. If this is the case just mark up the cost of green fees and we'll tip the caddies. Horrible system.

  Only played golf here. Honestly the caddies we had were amazing and very good at there job. What I am MAD & Upset about is the guy giving us our bag tag/number was very careless and damaged my head cover. I have an expensive white leather head cover and his pen marked it while filling out our tag/slips. When we asked him, he said he didn’t do it and left in his golf cart immediately. Not surprised with him being dishonest. I am a very careful person who is very clean and take care of my belongings. Such a shame he ruined our experience. We don’t plan on coming back here.   Can see amazing landscape from 2nd floor of the Song Be Driving range. It has auto tee-up system which can help golfers save time in practice. The swimming pool is also pretty good with clean water, beautiful view and services, although the facility is not in its best condition.
