  Cu Chi Tunnels is an extremely interesting and meaningful place to visit. There are two main sites, Bến Đình and Bến Dược, managed by Cu Chi and the central government (Sai Gon) respectively. While both sites share the same core tour content, such as the historical documentary film, explanations of tunnel structures, different room types, and the reasons the tunnels were built, the overall experience at each site has some differences. At both locations, the tour provides very detailed and vivid information about life underground. You can see how narrow and complex the tunnels are and even crawl through a short section yourself, which really helps you understand how challenging life was. The displays of traps, weapons, and manufacturing processes feel very real, giving a strong sense of how people lived, fought, and survived. Visitors can also try traditional wartime food such as boiled manioc with salt and sesame, and experience firing replica guns similar to those used during that period. At Bến Đình, as a Vietnamese visitor or if you understand Vietnamese at a high level, you only need to buy a normal entrance ticket. There are free guided tours in Vietnamese that run periodically. You just need to ask the staff at the entrance. There is no need to purchase an additional tour guide ticket. This surprised and impressed me quite a lot, as the explanations were detailed and well organized. At Bến Dược, guided tours are provided by default, so the experience feels more structured from the beginning. In addition to the main tunnel tour, Bến Dược offers deeper insight into civilian life before and during the war. One of the most impressive highlights is the large sand table display with lights, smoke effects, and storytelling, showing how the liberation zones were formed, how intense the bombings were, and what people had to endure. I also watched a 3D film that powerfully illustrated the impact of bombs on the land and on human lives. Bến Dược is also home to the Bến Dược Temple, a memorial dedicated to honoring the soldiers and civilians who sacrificed their lives in the resistance wars. Visiting the temple offers a quiet and reflective space to pay respect, read the names and stories of those who were lost, and better understand the human cost behind the history presented in the tunnels. It adds an important emotional and cultural dimension to the visit and helps complete the overall experience. Beyond the historical exhibitions, Bến Dược also has more interactive and recreational activities such as paintball shooting, swimming, and cultural performances, making it suitable for both education and hands on experiences. Overall, everything felt incredibly real and impactful right in front of my eyes. Củ Chi Tunnels is not just a historical site. It is a powerful reminder of resilience, creativity, and survival. I truly loved this place and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to understand an important part of Vietnam’s history.

  The tunnels and grounds are an extremely meaningful visit. There is a ton of history and educational experience here, a new perspective into the war first hand. A must visit while in Vietnam. It is approximately 2 hours from HCM but there are plenty of guided tours going. Our tour guide was full of knowledgeable information. It is super hot and a bit crowded, but the visit was still a must. Being able to shoot there was another unique experience, fair pricing for ammunition. Climbing through the tunnel system is a very unique experience as well, it’s amazing just how small they are.

  Pretty unique experience. Yes, you get to crawl down the old tunnels which have been extended for us tourists, otherwise we won't really fit there. Guides are extremely friendly and helpful, the whole thing is a one of a kind experience. The traps you get to see are pretty heavy to look at. What makes the Cu Chi Tunnels stand out is the sheer authenticity of it all. Walking through these narrow passages, you can genuinely feel the weight of history and the ingenuity of those who built them. The guides really bring the experience to life with detailed explanations about how people lived, worked, and survived in these tunnels during the war. They don't just show you around – they make you understand what it meant to be down there. The tunnel system is impressively preserved, and the engineers have thoughtfully widened certain sections to make it accessible for visitors while keeping the character of the original structure intact. Crawling through the tighter spots, you get a real sense of the incredible conditions people endured. The booby traps on display are genuinely sobering and serve as a powerful reminder of the harsh realities of war. The whole experience is well-organized. There's a small museum at the top with informative displays, and you'll have time to grab a drink or snack before heading down. The guides are knowledgeable without being overbearing, and they're patient in answering all your questions, even the ones you repeat because you're still processing what you're learning. Highly recommend visiting in the early morning if possible – it's cooler, less crowded, otherwise you'll look like me in the photos after a few minutes. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to get a bit dusty, but trust me, it's worth it. This is history you'll actually feel in your bones, not just read about. Absolutely worth the trip.

  Visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels was one of the most memorable experiences of my trip. It’s hard to fully appreciate the history until you’re actually there, seeing the narrow tunnels and learning how they were used during the war.   Located North West around 50 kilometres from Ho Chi Minh airport this is one of the unique, unforgettable and profound places we visited in Vietnam. It takes roughly 1.5 to 2 hours from the airport mainly because of high traffic snarls in the city. Its thought provoking and seriously makes one think about the necessity of peace and calmness required in world today for human race to survive. The booby traps and hidden underground bunkers, reportedly spread in a network, across a total length of 250 kilometres approx, was made self sufficient for the survival of the Vietnamese guerilla soldiers, who were in a do or die situation with American soldiers in the war. The tunnels barely walkable (said to be made wider for the tourists to walk or squeeze in), are severely claustrophobic and had rooms, clinics, kitchens, dining hall, meeting rooms, shooting spots, ammunition storages and what not. The tunnels connected to the river directly to enable the soldiers escape surface and travel directly by water ways. A highly recommended place for visit in the entire Vietnam.

  We joined a tour group. Picked up in Ho Chi Min City district 1. This includes the entrance fee. 1 hour drive to there from the city. The tunnel experience was very interesting. Lots and lots of people. However, it flowed well. Each group has their own guide and the estate has guides too. We saw tanks, weapons, "crawled" in a tunnel, saw the traps. It is a big part of their history and they have preserved this area to show tourists. Would recommend. If you have children, avoid the firing range. Toilets scattered about and plenty of places to buy refreshments Suggest suncream, mosquitoe cream and a hat. After that we went to the mekong delta. The whole day is a 7:30am to 6pm outing.

  When you visit Vietnam, I highly recommend dropping by the Cu Chi tunnels, an artery of the Ho Chi Minh trail. The experience is very interactive with chance to enter the tunnels and experience a bit of the claustrophobia. There are also examples of the booby traps and other defenses of the trail as well as surprisingly well developed communal areas underground. The tunnels are easily visited on a half day trip from Ho Chi Minh city but you might prefer a full day trip for a more immersive experience.   Went here via an excursion, so we had a guide from the start. He took us through the tunnels, explaining as we continued, what each tunnel was used for not just for fighting. You need to have good knees (see the 1st video) plenty of bent over walking, with low headroom, good idea to wear a hat, just in case of banging your head, which is what I did,ouch, then I put my hat on. Also if want to film your tunnel walking, if possible it might be worth while using a head torch, so you've at least one hand free, because some of the tunnels have no illumination. Well worth the effort.

  Amazing experience!! So much to see. If you don’t mind closed spaces and don’t have high blood pressure then I would 100% recommend entering the tunnels to see how they lived underneath. They have bigger tunnel entrances but not on all tunnels. My dad’s 6ft and 101kg and managed to go into two of them, although he did hit his head on the top of the tunnel (he’s practically blind 🤣).
