  fantastic escape from the chaos of Ho Chi Minh City! We spent the day exploring the coconut groves of Ben Tre and the winding canals of My Tho. The highlight was definitely the traditional sampan rowing boat through the narrow, palm-shaded "water coconut" canals—it felt like stepping back in time. ​We also visited a local coconut candy workshop (try the warm ones!) and the Vinh Trang Pagoda, which has incredible giant Buddha statues. It can get a bit touristy at the lunch stops, but the scenery and the kindness of the locals make it 100% worth it. ​Pro Tip: Wear sunscreen and a hat—the sun reflects off the water and gets very hot by midday! If you love nature, don't miss the Tra Su Cajuput Forest. Gliding through the bright green carpet of duckweed on a small boat was incredibly peaceful. It’s a bird-watcher’s paradise—we saw dozens of herons and storks nesting in the trees. ​The region feels much more "authentic" and less crowded than the spots closer to the city. The food here is also a highlight—be sure to try the grilled fish wrapped in lotus leaves. A must-visit for anyone looking for the "Green" side of Vietnam.

  The Mekong Delta tour is, in my opinion, somewhat overhyped. It is often advertised as an opportunity to experience authentic village life and local culture, but the reality was quite different from what I expected. Before arriving, I imagined visiting individual family homes, interacting with local villagers who run their own small businesses, and seeing their farms and daily lives firsthand. Instead, the tour follows a fixed itinerary with pre-arranged stops at commercial attractions such as coconut candy workshops, honey farms, and tropical fruit gardens. Although the people working there are locals, these are organized tourist businesses rather than private village homes or independently run family farms. The lunch stop was at a large restaurant that catered to many tour groups at once. It was very crowded, and we had to wait a long time for our food, which took away from the overall experience. The small boat ride through the narrow canals lined with water coconut palms was the highlight of the tour. It was peaceful and scenic, although it was also quite crowded with many other boats. Overall, I didn't find the experience as authentic or immersive as it is often advertised. If you're expecting genuine interactions with villagers and a glimpse into everyday rural life, you may be disappointed. While the scenery is beautiful, the tour feels more like a well-organized tourist circuit than a true cultural experience.

  Trip December 6, 2025. We were taken on a 2-hour tour. From the jetty we took a boat and stopped at a coconut candy workshop, visited bee farms, visited fruit & local performance (while eating fruit and being served with Malay songs) and finally we got on a canoe rowed by 2 operators. The view of the water and on the left and right were nipah trees. This is my second time visiting the Mekong River. There are many local souvenirs sold in the island area. The prices are cheaper than on the mainland.

  Introduction Incredible… educational… explorative. The guide was absolutely lovely, and so were the people on the trip with us. Overall, a genuinely memorable experience. We travelled by large boat, on foot, and later by small local canoes. Along the way we learned about local history and customs, while also trying different traditional foods and products. The only slight disappointment was that some places shown in online reviews weren’t included in our route… though honestly, I think that was probably a booking mistake from our side. Food We tried: • Homemade rice crackers • Coconut candy • Fresh fruits • Lunch set with rice, fried fish, fried rolls, eggs, and pork Simple local food, but enjoyable and authentic. Service The guide was excellent. Very kind, knowledgeable, and respectful towards the local community. He also encouraged tipping to support locals, which was nice to see. One local artisan even gave us a small bracelet made from dried leaves… a very memorable detail. Location The experience begins quite far from the city, requiring a shuttle bus journey first. After that, you continue by boat across a wide beautiful river, stopping at different locations along the way. Most destinations were explored on foot, while one section involved transferring from the large boat into smaller local canoes. Payments • Online booking payments accepted • Cash (VND) works too
